From 19-22 May 2016, the Department of Classics, with generous support from the UW Simpson Center for the Humanities and the Loeb Classical Library Foundation, will host the seventh 'Feminism and Classics' conference here at the University of Washington. The topic of the conference is 'Visions'.
We have scheduled three exceptional keynote speakers, who collectively cover many of the areas that we hope will be central to our conference: Alison Wylie (http://faculty.washington.edu/aw26/); Sheila Murnaghan (https://www.classics.upenn.edu/people/sheila-murnaghan); and Bettina Bergmann (https://www.mtholyoke.edu/acad/facultyprofiles/bettina_bergmann).
Progress is also being made in the organization of local artist Lauren Dudley's book-arts exhibit about women and vision, which is to be coordinated with the conference. The exhibit, entitled 'Just One Look', will consist of specially commissioned work by top regional and national book artists.
