The Annual Teachers Conference will NOT be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017. We are hoping to reschedule for a Saturday in March and will post an update soon. Please do share this with interested colleagues.
Some general information about our conferences:
Each year the Department of Classics sponsors a conference for regional secondary school teachers organized around a theme that relates to material from the ancient world currently being taught in the schools. In recent years, for instance, we have had a conference on teaching Homer's Odyssey and another on teaching Greek tragedy (both great successes!). The conference, which is usually held on a Saturday (8:30 AM-1:30 PM) in winter or spring, typically features a lecture by a member of the Classics faculty here at the University of Washington and presentations or lectures by local teachers on areas of their expertise. The Department of Classics provides morning refreshments and lunch for those who wish it; clock hours are also available. To be added to our email list for this event, or if you have any questions -- or would like to suggest a topic or theme for our next conference -- please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
