"Excited, eager, enthusiastic, exhilarated. These words can’t come close to describing how thrilled we are to travel to Rome." So writes Justin Schmidt of the UW Men's Basketball team. In partnership with the UW Athletics Department, Sarah Stroup is leading a group of students, including student athletes, to Italy for a two week intensive study of sport and spectacle in ancient Rome, with a focus on gladiatorial games. Based at the UW Rome Center, the program also includes field trips to Pompeii and other sites in Italy, along with plenty of good food.
