Harvey Densmore Scholarships

The Harvey Bruce Densmore Memorial Fund was established in 1978 in recognition of Professor Densmore's outstanding contribution to humanistic education and especially to Greek studies. Professor Densmore was a member of the Classics Department Faculty from 1907 until his retirement in 1952 and is especially remembered for his devotion to the study of classical Greek. He died at the age of 95 in 1977. For many years the Densmore was the major scholarship in the Classics Department. Beginning 2006 the Densmore was given in conjunction with other awards as an additional mark of distinction.
