IN PERSON SEMINAR IN LATIN AND/OR ANCIENT GREEK DESIGNED TO COUNT FOR CREDIT TOWARDS MAJORS AND MINORS IN THE CLASSICS DEPARTMENT (LATIN, GREEK, CLASSICS, CLASSICAL STUDIES)
Syllabus Description (from Canvas):

This class, taught together with Greek 405 and Latin 405, requires at least one year of Greek or Latin. We will read selections from the Hebrew Bible and one of the Gospels  in both languages, though students need not have studied both languages. Those who have, can sign up for CLAS 405. Those with Latin only can sign up for Latin 405 and those with Greek only for Greek 405.

The vocabulary and syntax of the texts we will read are fairly simple, for which reason we will be able to read quite a bit. I will also introduce students to the Hebrew alphabet so that we can see how some words and names are managed (i.e. why Yehoshua and Yeshua become Jesus).

If you have any questions, please contact me: jjc@uw.edu

Catalog Description:
